"Besides you will see him again and plus he wouldn't be at camp to make rude comments on you." He looked up at the rising sun. "We should get back to camp you wouldn't want to miss your own apprentice ceremony would you?" he picked up the mouse and started to walk towards camp.

Nightkit followed him. She knew he was right, but she would miss him. The ceremony was going to start soon. Her emotions mixed together in a horrible way. She was left feeling totally confused.

Grayfur and Nightkit reached the camp just in time to hear Ancientstar yowl,"May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Highbranch for a clan meeting!"

Balcksunset walked up to the camp and smiled as his children obeyed their orders. MorningGlory smiled at her mate. Life was slowly falling into place. Or was it?

Nightkit and midnightkit obeyed. Midnightkit was expressionless. Nightkit was jumping with glee.

"Midnightkit you will be now known as Midnightpaw until you learn the way of our warriors ancestors. Your mentor will be BlackSunset." (The proper ceremony is when the mentor touches noses with his/her new apprentice) Ancientstar turned to Nightkit. "Nightkit you will be known as Nightpaw until you learn the ways of our warrior ancestors. Your mentor will be Grayfur." Grayfur's eyes gleamed as he came fourth to touch noses with his apprentice. He had known this all along.

The kits were speachless. Blacksunset did as grayfur dis to midnightpaw. Nightpaw smiled and blacksunset followed.

Blacksunset nodded. Midnightpaw and Nightpaw were silent. Nightpaw had nothing to say. Midnightpaw was planning his escape in his head. MorningGlory watched her kits with happiness. They were finally growing up.

Ancientstar waved her tail dissmissivly and jumped down from High branch. Grayfur looked at his new apprentice. "Want to get a tour of the territory? It's usually the first thing we do with our apprentices." He looked up at BlackSunset expectantly.
